Elyse 'Jade' McCabe, Ceremonial Center Lead Assistant, attended her first Rootwire in 2011. It was at that initial event that Elyse “woke-up” and was fully able to step into her full Be-ing! She has considered Rootwire “Home” ever since.
For the first couple of years, she came as a patron alongside her mother, Julie North. She was so moved by her Rootwire experiences each year that she wanted to help create and foster opportunities for others to experience Rootwire as deeply as she had herself. In 2014 she became an integral part of Rootwire by joining the Ceremonial Center build team. For her, building “Home” was an immensely important turning point. She felt as though she was not only creating “Home” for herself, but for everyone else who loved Rootwire and for those yet to experience it.
In 2016 she became the Ceremonial Center Lead Assistant (along with Alexis Victoria North), vastly expanding her role as co-creator, building as well as assisting, directing and supporting all of the Presenters, Healers and Staff that make The Ceremonial Center at Rootwire so special to her and the Rootwire family.
A student of Zoology, Elyse hopes to eventually run a wildlife refuge and rehabilitation center. When she isn’t working two jobs or creating amazing things for Rootwire, she can usually be found at the Cat Café spreading love to all the kitties who have yet to find a forever home, playing with her own two rescue cats or curled up with a book.
Elyse counts the days each year until Rootwire, literally!
“My overall goal at Rootwire is create an environment where people feel welcomed enough that they can be who they truly are, even if they don’t yet know who that is…without fear of judgment.”
If you see Elyse running around the festival, stop her and give her a BIG HUG! It’s one of her favorite things!
