Taco Olmstead

A self described "simple man" with a not so simple background. Taco Olmstead spent the first six years of his life living abroad in the continental United States and the Phillipine Islands before settling down to his family roots in the farms of Colchester, Vt. Spending summers in Maine as well as his summer at 15 years old living on the Navajo Reservation in Piñon, Arizona.
At 16 years old amid internal family struggles his family moved to the Baltimore/DC region. It was here where Taco learned his true love of live music. After graduating High School he found himself following the Grateful Dead summer tour and earned his moniker "Taco" as a "lot" food vendor of... Tacos!
After graduating from UMBC with an English degree and expecting a child, he moved to West Virginia where his passions for the outdoors and his intense spiritual connection with nature was renewed. Here Taco worked diligently as an advocate for the cold water resources of West Virginia, working with groups like Trout Unlimited, Sierra Club, Canaan Valley Institute and a host of other environmental and conservation groups.
Today Taco is the cofounder of Appalachian Jamwich Magazine, producer of The Mad Tea Party Jam, father, husband and son. He shares the wisdom he has gathered through mentorships and experiences in his blog, Taco 'Bout It, via the Appalachian Jamwich website.
