Dr. Paul Rudy, DMA, MM is a composer, performer, photographer, land artist, coach, mentor, dreamer, and life improviser. In 2012, he moved onto 70 acres in northeastern Kansas where he practices harmonizing with all relations, both physical and non-physical. In this place, he says sound emanates from his sound healing room out into the woods and prairie, as he listens deeply.
Harmonization with the land was rewarded in 2014 when non-physical phenomenon began showing themselves in photographs.
Rudy has been described as “the High Priest of Sound” and his music as “the Universe unfolding one sound at a time.” His music is simultaneously primordial and celestial bringing into dialog the voices of all relations with your own thoughts and memories, and the sounds of many “places.” It opens up a horizon that you may choose to navigate on your own terms, on a journey not so much of his design, but of your desire. When you allow it, meditations without words will awaken you to both the deep and hidden corners of yourself, and Source energy waiting to transform and integrate essence into cohesion, and cohesion into manifestation. It will help you come home to yourself.
As a composer, Dr. Rudy's music moves broadly from free improvisation and film scoring, to chamber and orchestral, to sonic alchemy and healing. He facilitates improvisation, sound healing and meditation, and playing with music and sound in all its meanings, and for 20 years has been helping young people find their unique and individual musical voice.
Rudy is a Rome Prize (2010), Guggenheim (2008), Fulbright (1997) and Wurlitzer Foundation (2007 and 2009) Fellow, and his music has won Global Music Awards (2012 for Innovation in Sound and Mixing/Editing), the Sounds Electric ’07 Competition (Dublin), EMS Prize (Sweden), Citta di Udine (Prize ex aequo, Italy), and has received recognition and commissions from IMEB, Bourges (2008 commission), CMMAS, SEAMUS, Meet the Composer, the American Composer’s Forum, SCI, and NMTA. He is a Curators’ Professor of Composition at the University of Missouri at Kansas City Conservatory. In 1994, he completed the Colorado Grand Slam after climbing all 54 of Colorado's 14,000 ft peaks. He has released six CDs, which are available at CDBaby and iTunes. You can also check out his work on SoundCloud and his Blog HERE!
Workshop #1: "Connecting Sound and Thought-Unlocking the Power of Your Own Frequency"
Have you ever been slammed by a sound, or someone else’s energy? Have you found yourself reacting to a situation, and later wished you had had the capacity to respond in a better, more helpful way for both yourself and another? Dissonance is all around us, but we don't need to be puppets of it. In this workshop we will practice connecting our thoughts with our own sound for inner and outer well-being. Short meditations will help you learn to project your thoughts through your own voice: inward to places of discomfort for self-healing, and out into your community and to the world. Tuning your field through intention, combined with sound, can help you harmonize with anything that comes your way, allowing you to respond from your wisest and most creative self. (Main Speaker Tent)
Opening Ceremony: Sound Journey accompaniment to Opening Intention Ceremony (Main Stage Thursday).
Sound Healing in the FREE Healing Tent! For a couple of hours each day, Paul will be providing sound healing to the ENTIRE healing tent!! Make sure you drop by and get sound journey with us!
Paul will also be sharing his art in the Visionary Art Gallery again this year!
Lessons: While at Rootwire, Dr. Rudy will be available for private lessons for any musicians wanting guidance on finding their own unique voice. There is no universal style, sound or voice, only your own essence seeking alignment and harmony with all that is, using whatever tools you have available. If pre-arranged, he will review your music before meeting at Rootwire. If on the spot, that will be part of the session. He also loves leading group and private performance meditations, journeys and healing sessions. For more information about pricing and details, email Dr. Rudy at goodsoundsgood@yahoo.com.
