Michael Marras
My art process is to create intuitively. During the act of creating, I rearrange what others have already created, then discarded when no longer useful to them. The scrap steel and other materials used in my work tell their own stories. They come from an industrial age that has shaped our current (paradigm) or (understanding of reality). The materials have affected our lives in many ways as they have been arranged and rearranged throughout time. My process allows for these implements to be repurposed and temporarily immortalized once again. One day, my sculptures will be pounded back into the earth, dug up and used in other ways. Until that time comes, they are for you to enjoy, to tell your own story, and to open your thoughts to the many possibilities of the lives we can live on this planet. My work has no agenda. I only have ideas and an addiction to bringing those ideas to reality.
