Ryan Byrd paints fully in the moment, with no fear, no plans, and no notion of where he’s going. He paints as a child playing with cars in the dirt, making it up as he goes, surrendering to the flow of consciousness, channeling the energy of the music and vibrations of human spirit. His work is informed by ideas of consciousness, philosophy, science, pop culture, psychology, the human experience, spirituality and the unknown.
Ryan translates all of this into webs and fractals, weaving the fundamental geometric patterns of our universe from layers of paint, until the images of the deep subconscious dream mind emerge. He keeps these images in mind and and continues to build on them until he’s fully satisfied with the physical result.
Ryan has taught himself painting and drawing, always improving, always coming back to art. He tattooed for ten years, has had work features in galleries, all before finding his place at the easel. For three years, Ryan has been sharing his flow painting to the rhythms and the beats of music festivals all over the East Coast and Midwest.
