SCOTT WILLIAMS
As a younger musician, Scott Williams studied classically at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ and began his career singing worldwide throughout China, Spain, Italy, Canada and a number of concerts as part of a series at Carnegie Hall in NYC as well as Lincoln Center. The thrill of the performance moves him, and the idea of positively affecting others lives in the indescribable ways through which music reaches people's souls is what keeps him driven and determined. A passion for guitar and piano playing drove him to seek out other more extemporaneous ways of musical expression. As he performed, he yearned to have the freedom to improvise more, so he set out to further his craft by reaching into new genres.
Always looking to stay busy, Scott plays in a number of projects in a number of musical capacities. He was formerly a bass player for Grateful Dead tribute act Dead Ahead Ohio. Currently he emulates bassist Mike Gordon in Phish tribute The Powerful Pills. He also joins fellow Rootwire artist Eric Turner in Wed Zepween, a tribute which energetically melds the music of Led Zeppelin and Ween. Scott performs in a number of original bands as well. Scott holds down the keys, guitar and bass as a founding member of Foto, also along with Eric Turner. Foto is an Indie Soul Progressive Jam band which Scott has contributed compositionally to the bands catalog.
